Rufus

Posted on Updated on

It was the last day of the month
The cold too gross, the rain won’t stop
The bond I share with my bed I won’t break
Yet, duty calls
As a loyal corper I don’t disobey the clarion call
Amidst the chills and shivers
Hugging the books as though they’re warm
I arrived my destination soaked
Then it happened…

At the far corner of the class sat Nkem
She looks different today
Perhaps my sight isn’t clear
So radiant even the ridiculous uniform won’t hide it
Very round yet firm
Perhaps I’m not seeing right, again
I’m a scientist, a proof I really need
I called her out to write on the board
So I could see in 3D

That was how it started!

Skirt hugging the curves I felt like trading places
What she wrote I don’t know, other things I’m seeing
I teach Biology, but really, this is Chemistry
A mystery!
Where have you been?

* * * * *

One thing led to another
She’s not so tough as Nkechi; my undergraduate love
But far better in the faculty of room services
Beds department
The courses I trust you know
Of course, I’m a professor in the field
As a learned one I was cautious
Protection comes first at all times
Until it got intense I guess I lost my senses

* * * * *

Another thing led to something
That something I hate to think

“Nkem don get bele…”

…and I dare not deny it’s mine
Her parents; nuclear and bomb combined
Perfect recipe for trouble
God knows I grew lean within a few days
I always complain how insufficient “allowee” is
Now I’ll have to face something worse than complain
Responsibility is here, allowee splitting is inevitable
“Indoor game” is sweet, catering for the pregnant isn’t
All my mates depart, service year is over
Mine has just started

Travelling on my mind
But little one knows my real intentions already
Speedily he came, looking just like me
He’s definitely mine
Responsibilities abound

It’s the first day of the month… and it’s really hot!

My name is Rufus. Nkem and little John are mine. I think I’m in trouble.

I know I’m in trouble!

What can I say?! Bi Rufus se ko(meet) ti e niyen! He did the crime, by Jove, he gatz to do the time. All these ‘Broda Copa guys ehn! They can be so sly and randy. I know a guy from SW who served in Calabar some few years back, his PPA being one of the high schools in the state. Before we could say ‘Jack Robinson’, ‘casualities’ in the form of knocked up schoolgirls, minors; began showing up on the scene. All with the same story of how our ‘Copa’ sweet talked and broke down their defences. And guess the most ridiculous part of this whole story: the girls numbered 20, and those are the ones who came out to be counted o. We’d never know if there are others. Of course, the ‘sperminator’ got wind of the news that he was now the ‘Most Wanted Man’, in the state and bailed never to retun. His certificate was withheld nonetheless. So I can relate with Rufus’ plight and dilemma. Since Nkem was good enough for a clandestine hook up, then I’m pretty sure she will make a great spouse too. LMAO!

Lovely piece, Senor, almost like you were writing from the heart. You won’t be ‘Copa Ruffie’ now would you?! Your secret’s safe with me o, I swear; I no go tell anybody! ROTFLMAO!

“Rufus” was actually inspired by a senior corper that rufus-lised a student while I was serving. Corper Ruffie’s saga was what I’ll call “water-” compared to the “waterloo” of the Calabar brother you mentioned. Someone definitely was competing with Ronaldo as the highest goal scorer. He just had to run; the return on his “investments” will kill him. Literally. Calabar minors can like to be sweet-talked and sweet-handled sef!

As per the identity of Corper Ruffie :), em. . . erm. . . *straight face* I was strictly Corper Joseph throughout service year, didn’t even hold a lady *rme*. Remember my story with that babe, erm . . . Pharaoh’s Nkem? I learnt. LOL

      New word: Sperminator. 🙂

Pharoah’s Nkem ke? Biko, point me in the direction of that story o, looks like a very juicy serving. Can’t wait to devour and savour it! And I’m pretty sure too that you were strictly ‘Copa Joseph’ throughout your service year, I doubt not; especially seeing as you’re very well versed in the ‘Calabartic’ knowledge of minors in that blessed state. And I take it too that you served there abi? *rme* LMAO@ ‘water’ and ‘waterloo’, except that I think the Calabar brother’s experience is actually that of a ‘waterfall’ as well as ‘waterloo’, same noni; all join! LOL!

It’s a story you know well. About that Pharaoh’s babe that wanted some from me in Egypt that time . . . Prison na bad place o!

I did my time in Kogi state, but pals deployed to Calabar told me of the “blessings” therein. Makes me wonder how someone’s life can be so messed up with “derivations of water” like that, many thanks to Calabartic things.

Only God can, will, and must save guys. 🙂
